Company development and growth:
1992: Talisman Energy becomes an independent company
The company’s original name was BP Canada and became an independent company 1992 when it was renamed Talisman Energy Inc. Since then, the company has grown rapidly through successful production and strategic acquisitions.
1994: Talisman establishes its enterprise in the U.K.
This takes place with the acquisition of London-based Bow Valley Inc. The move provides the company with a base for non-operated production as well as access to exploration opportunities in the North Sea. In the following years, the company has grown to be one of the largest operating companies on the U.K. Continental Shelf.
2003: Talisman enters the Norwegian Continental Shelf
This happens as we acquire the Gyda field from BP Norge. In the subsequent years, Talisman has established a strong licence portfolio.
2004: The Norwegian enterprise grows significantly
The acquisitions of Pertra AS and the Varg field form the basis for this growth. At the same time, Talisman gains access to Varg Sør, which is renamed Rev.
2005: Talisman acquires Paladin
Our Norwegian enterprise grows significantly.
2007: The company now operates Gyda and Varg
At the same time, the Blane field, which straddles both the Norwegian and U.K. sectors, is tied in to the Ula platform to use this as a host platform. The government approves a plan for development and operation of Rev and Yme.
2009: Rev comes on stream and the Grevling field is discovered
2012: Yme comes on stream
